Condominium is going to be doing a month long residency at Grumpy's in downtown Minneapolis in March. We'll be playing there every Saturday night all month. The shows are free and start around 10:30 or 11pm. Come see us try to keep it interesting. One of the shows will be in the main room of Grumpy's opening for Feedtime on March 24th.

Our "Warm Home" LP is sold out from the label at the moment, but we'll be getting a small repress within the next month or two, so there will be a few more copies around if you're searching.

Just got back from a weekend trip up to Winnipeg and Fargo. Thanks to everyone who helped out with the shows or came to see us, it was fun

We're planning another Canadian vacation for November, this time up to Toronto. We'll also be playing in Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Muskegon. I'll post more details as things get setup.

Despite a serious lack of updates here, we are still alive and well. Condominium is finishing up writing new songs for an upcoming 12" EP which we will be recording this spring at our very own A Harder Commune Studio. we are also taking a trip out west in the middle of March to play some shows with White Wards from Olympia. We will definitely be in Seattle, Portland, and the Bay Area. More details to follow soon.

also for you local folks we are playing a show at the Triple Rock Social Club on Monday, February 21st. It is the last of the series of shows Extreme Noise has been sponsoring there on Monday nights. Get into it.

There is something timeless about a D.I.Y. punk show. As the world seemingly falls apart all around us, I take some comfort in the fact that kids are still wearing studded leather jackets and Minor Threat T-shirts, turning out to support touring hardcore punk bands and wearing their musical influences on their sleeves. In many ways, the time is ripe for a rebirth of such an aesthetic. American hardcore was born during the depths of the early-'80s recession. What will be the soundtrack to our current financial meltdown?

Minneapolis-based Condominium may be the answer to such a timely question. Onstage, the four-piece was able to create an amazing wall of noise that took its cues from such seminal punk bands as Black Flag (the band relies heavily on a series of Greg Ginn-inspired guitar riffs), Void, Flipper and early-'80s Boston acts like Impact Unit, Jerry's Kids and SSD. Condominium succeeds in drawing from the most abrasive elements of hardcore punk in a way that strips the sound of unnecessary baggage, allowing the pure primal energy of the genre to take center stage.
Refreshingly, there is nothing overtly violent or thuggish about the band's take on hardcore. And the young band plays with the intensity and passion of those who have finally discovered a cache of records that speak directly to their feelings of anger and frustration. Despite the almost middle-age status of some of their influences, a sense of the joy of that discovery marks the band's best material.

Other contemporary acts, such as Pissed Jeans and Clockcleaner, have mined similar territory with outstanding results. Yet whereas those bands tend to eschew the outright thrash often associated with the genre, Condominium has taken the hardcore punk mantra of "Shorter, Faster, Louder" to heart. Such an approach to music is incredibly simplistic-though not necessarily in a bad way. By remaining true to the pure form of the sound, as laid out by their predecessors, Condominium reminds us of the reasons why hardcore punk may still be relevant in 21st-century America. If there were ever a time for such a genre, it's now.

the young and the rich and the beautiful - they have reason, those lucky ones, to wish full records kept of their pleasures and revels, even their follies. How else are they to outwit the enemy they have in common, implacable time? Documents in the form of pictures are their means of stating, each in his own way, "Mark me. Envy me. I was this person in this time and place. And i was happy." Memories of good days fail, or are altered by needs unknown in youth, but what the camera registers and preserves unchanged becomes an earnest of immortality. For it is a fact that the camera's eye is able to stop time; long after the young and the rich and the beautiful are dust, photographs will bestow on them a posthumous existence, shining with promise.
